Back of the Ute

‘100 Utes of Croqland’ automotively emerged from ‘100 Views of Croqland’ to balance out the heavy and complex themes of the Croqland Suite.
This series is just a simple, light & fun indulgence in iconic Australiana, in my favourite fashion: Repetition - iteration - versions.
The HQ Kingswood symbolises Young Croqland seeing itself as a wealthy, progressive, socially oriented Western Democracy and is looked back upon with a wistful, euphoric sentimentality for a better, simpler, easier time (for white anglo folks, anyways)…
The simple, industrial rubber stamp as printing process somewhat mirrors the simple technology of the automobile industry of that era.

These HQ Kingswood Utes are custom rubber stamp, watercolour/gouache & inks, on either vintage paper, pages from the 1980 Guide to the Geology & Mineral Resources of South Australia by the SA Dept. of Mines & Energy; or 1930’s/40’s Army surveillance maps of Queensland, on vintage photograph holders.
The works are originals, except for the set of postcards made of four motifs.
Limited edition prints of each motif are also available [8 x 10” = 20x25cm = A4ish] for $75 - same as the 100Views of Croqland series.
In keeping with 1970’s technology the images below are not clickable buttons. I want you to have them - but you will have to send me an email, pls., …at this point.
I do intend to get the intern onto making this work, or my teenage son. - soon!
